Using the IPA benchmarking data service to find and compare project data

You can use the IPA Benchmarking data service to find, compare and download project data for benchmarking.

Benchmarking uses historical information to identify standards and best practice. This service allows you to use performance information from completed projects with the aim of improving assurance and delivery.

Before you start

You’ll need an IPA benchmarking data account to use this service.

You can check if your organisation is already registered on the IPA Benchmarking data service by contacting benchmarking@ipa.gov.uk. If your organisation has not been invited to use this service you can request access by emailing benchmarking@ipa.gov.uk.

You should read IPA’s Benchmarking data charter before using this service. It details the principles that guide the use of the service, whether you’re a data consumer, or a data provider.

Find and compare project data

What project data can I find in this service?

The service includes information on project deliverables (assets) such as tunnels, hospitals, or road, including cost, schedule, and carbon data.

This service is built on shared data. Data is provided by delivery teams on completion of a project, enabling other organisations to improve the quality of their estimates/forecasts, project outcomes and demonstrate value for money.
